Assessment Performance Indicators for Basic TTL Participants

Summer Academy 2002

 

TTL Academy graded components consist of:

·        The Unit of Study that is designed by each participant in accordance with Academy criteria/checklist;

·        The ASCD Course (selected from approved choices by each participant) and Academy Discussion Forums that comprise the content for assigned Study Team Work;

·        The Web Site that is designed by the participant in accordance with Academy criteria/checklist;

·        The use of Academy digital tools, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, Web Development tool appropriate to the platform used, Inspiration, all communication tools/applications, and site-specific desktop system and peripheral use in accordance with Academy criteria/checklist.

 

For Graduate and Certification Credit purposes, the following point totals and grade equivalents will apply:

·        A = Meets TTL Objectives at an Exemplary Level = 20-18 Total Points

·        B = Meets TTL Objectives at a Satisfactory Level =  17-14 Total Points

·        Total Points below 14 will result in a grade of Incomplete and the participant will be asked to submit a work plan for successful completion of course requirements to the Instructor of Record.

 

Attendance: Full attendance (in accordance with Academy policy) and active involvement in all Academy activities is required for graduate or certification credit enrollment and completion.

 


UNIT OF STUDY

 

Performance Indicators

6 points possible

4 points minimum acceptable

1 point will be awarded for each indicator that is achieved at a satisfactory level.

 

 

 

 

q       Examine current research to evaluate instructional design and make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.

q       Participants will design technology-rich units of study that support the diverse needs of learners.

 

 

 

The participant’s Unit of Study:

§   Matches appropriate technology resources to instructional and learner needs

§   Clearly aligns unit/lesson objectives with South Dakota Content Standards

§   Provides specific strategies to assure equal access to technological resources for all students

§   Includes project/lesson assessments that allow students, teachers and parents to monitor progress and adapt educational activities appropriately

§   Includes student directed activities which develop student information literacy and problem solving skills

§   Includes student presentations produced for a variety of audiences to illustrate student knowledge, skills and understandings

 

 

 

 

ASCD COURSE and DISCUSSION FORUMS

3 points minimum acceptable

1 point will be awarded for each indicator that is achieved at a satisfactory level.

 

 

q       Reflect on daily practice, professional growth, and technology-driven reform in teaching and learning.

q       Participants will engage in online staff development that takes advantage of web-based technologies to enhance professional practice.

q       Participants will engage in online and videoconference discussions to exchange ideas and research and reflect on professional beliefs and practices.

The participant actively contributes to their assigned Academy Study Team by consistently:

§   Fostering a collegial working environment that promotes discussion, inquiry, and the exchange of ideas and research

§   Guiding reflection concerning existing practices and suggesting resources to enhance instructional design

§   Examining existing instructional strategies and developing/incorporating new instructional strategies

§   Engaging in professional collaboration in support of Academy goals and objectives and the enhancement of personal professional growth

 

 

USE OF DIGITAL TOOLS

Participants will increase competence in the use of select digital technologies that support classroom instruction and enhance professional practice:

  • Word
  • Excel
  • Power Point
  • Web Design
  • Communication Tools
  • Computer Basics

 

The participant demonstrates growth in the use of digital technologies by:

§   Communicating through print and visual media

§   Designing products that are related to classroom instruction, professional development, and/or job requirements

§   Accomplishing Academy tasks through consistent and appropriate use of email, listservs, threaded discussion groups, and/or audio/video conferences

§   Identifying and using technology resources in support of professional growth

§   Ensuring that all communications include appropriate application of copyright law as it applies to research, product development and use of resources

§   Engaging in self and peer assessment of progress in the use of digital technologies

q       Participants will engage in collaborative and independent activities to plan, design, evaluate and maintain a professional web site.

 

The participant’s web site:

§   Is professional in nature and supports the Unit of Study

§   Incorporates multiple resources from a variety of credible electronic sources

§   Complies with copyright and intellectual property rights

§   Includes all Academy checklist components in regard to content, appearance, design, and navigation links
